Publishing Results & Software

All results will be published. Publication can be delayed if needed due to IP regulations in the lab agreement. A lab agreement is specific to an individual lab and describes the arrangement between the lab and its industry partner(s). Lab directors are responsible for the execution of the lab agreement, and should have a clear idea of the process by which IPR is shared with the partner and what timelines and responsibilities are required from both the partners and knowledge institute(s). It is recommended that these be made as explicit as possible. The lab directors also have to inform the PhD students before they start about the arrangements in the labs. It is very important that the PhD students are aware from before the start about the restrictions they have before results are shared and published.

Publication includes software. All software developed will be published open source. Depending on the arrangements in the lab agreement, different licenses can be applied to the software. We would advise to specifically discuss which license will be used for foreground results, but also which background software and licenses can be used during the projects.

After publication, researchers are free to discuss the results with other researchers outside the lab

It is the responsibility of each lab to make sure that publications and software releases are fully documented and tracked. An overview of publications and software releases is important to demonstrate the overall performance of the lab, and will be tracked in the quarterly reports for the full overview for the ROBUST program. Please use the template for documenting the publications and software for the integration of all publications of all the labs.

Please consult the Tech Transfer Office in your knowledge institute for advice on patent processes. We can offer our advice should you need a jumping-off point for your discussions.
