Recruiting

We offer the following recruiting advice to labs:

  • Two rounds of recruitment interviews are recommended:
    1. A shorter technical round (ca. 30 minutes)
2.A longer team round assessing fit for the lab (ca. one hour)
  • In the second interview round, involve at least one person from the lab that is from a different organization. Involving people across computer science, social sciences and humanities, industry partners, and different knowledge institutions enhances cohesion and joint ownership.
  • Decide in advance on which criteria you will assess candidates, and how you will weigh these criteria.
  • Strive for diversity and inclusion in the composition of the interview committee. It helps if there are people of various genders and backgrounds in your evaluation panels. A suggested rule of thumb: At least one (self-identified) male and female should be in each committee.
