In recent years, outcomes for ischemic stroke patients have improved due to mechanical thrombectomy, a procedure where the blood clot occluding the vessel is mechanically removed under X-ray guidance. Computer vision and artificial intelligence techniques offer new possibilities to guide and support clinicians during this intervention.

Frank is a PhD researcher contributing to the ICAI Stroke Lab, where he leverages AI-driven innovations to transform stroke care and optimize the patient treatment pathway. His research focuses on applying advanced medical imaging analysis and computer science to neurovascular data, creating intelligent tools that enhance clinical decision-making from prehospital care to rehabilitation. Drawing on a dual background as a medical doctor and computer scientist, Frank aims to bridge the gap between complex clinical practice and transparent, actionable medical AI to improve outcomes in stroke interventions and therapy.
